Finding My Soulmate

Some of the most frequently asked questions within my healing and teaching practice center around soulmates and romantic relationship.

There is a lot of misinformation out there about this topic which can cause much unnecessary hurt, frustration, and confusion.  It can be helpful to understand what a soul group is and how this affects your sense of the soulmate definition.

We all have a soul group.  A soul group is comprised of those spirits or beings you have become connected to through numerous shared physical incarnation experiences.  Basically, this is a group of souls you have had numerous past life connections and agreements with over the eons.  These shared past life experiences will cause a sense of recognition when a member of your soul group comes across your path.

Many people mistake this remembrance as a sign that this person is your soulmate—your one and only true love!  The one you are destined to be with forever! Well, that may or may not be true because you can have these feelings of recognition and familiarity when you meet anyone from your soul group.

Additionally, your soulmate search may seem quite frustrating and remain elusive if you fail to understand the primary key factor involved in manifesting your beloved.  The most important factor to consider if you are looking to attract love and find a life partner is this: your relationship with yourself defines and determines the quality of your relationship with others.  The relationship you have with yourself directly affects and impacts every single relationship of your life.

This includes intimate and romantic relationships.  For example, if you do not value yourself or respect yourself, you will tend to attract those who do not value or respect you.  Do you like yourself?  More importantly, do you love yourself?  Unconditional love for self is pivotal to any healthy relationship.  The way you treat yourself, and feel about yourself, directly sets the standard for the quality and health of all your relationships.

Therefore, a good beginning step when looking to draw love into your life is working on making your relationship with yourself as healthy as possible.  Start this process by becoming mindful of how you treat yourself as you move through your day.

  • Do you beat yourself up?
  • Are you constantly down on yourself?
  • Do you starve yourself?
  • Are you consistently putting your own needs on the back burner?
  • Do you put everyone else’s needs ahead of your own?
  • Do you say yes, when you really wanted to say no?
  • Do you push yourself too long and too hard, beyond the point of exhaustion?
  • How do you interact with yourself?
  •  Are you kind, gentle, or loving?
  • Or are you harsh, disrespectful, and abusive?

Reflecting upon and evaluating the quality of your relationship with yourself begins the process of creating a healthier relationship with yourself and those around you.  Being mindful of unhealthy and abusive self-dynamics brings the issues into your conscious awareness which creates understanding, and in turn the opportunity to perceive and choose healthier self-interaction.

It is just as important to become aware of healthy self-interactions and dynamics.  Doing so provides balance, hope, repatterns negativity, and facilitates healing changes in your life.  What do you love about yourself?  What do you value about yourself?  Where are the places and spaces you feel confident?

Celebrate the amazing wonderful you!  Send yourself flowers, write yourself a love letter, or mail yourself a card listing at least one thing you love about yourself.  Buy yourself fresh roses or chocolates.  You deserve it!  Kick off those shoes, put up those feet, and take a deep breath.

You are a precious being and you deserve to be treated well!  Interacting with yourself as a precious and sacred being supports a healthy and compassionate self-relationship.

Does it all have to be perfect before you can attract a healthier romantic love?  No.  Perfection is not the goal and needing perfection is not helpful.  Just do your best in striving for more balance, health, and well-being within your life.

So, the next time you have romantic relationship questions or are wondering when you will find your beloved, instead of looking outside of yourself for answers, it might be much more productive to look within.
